Drone Inspection Pricing
What to charge for drone inspections in 2026 — by asset type, with thermal, reporting, and access surcharges built in.
Typical 2026 rates
Real ranges most working Part 107 pilots in the U.S. quote in 2026. Where you land in the band depends on equipment, region, deliverables, and turnaround.
| Service | Typical range |
|---|---|
Residential roof inspection Visual only, basic report | $300 – $800 |
Commercial roof inspection Larger area, formal report | $600 – $2,500 |
Cell tower inspection Visual; thermal adds 30–60% | $500 – $1,500 per tower |
Solar farm inspection Size-dependent; thermal anomaly report | $1,500 – $5,000+ per visit |
Wind turbine (per blade) | $300 – $800 per blade |
Bridge / infrastructure | $2,500 – $10,000+ per inspection |
Industrial day rate | $1,500 – $3,500 / day |
Thermal / radiometric surcharge | + 30 – 60% over visual base |
What drives the price
1. Asset type & access
A residential roof is a 30-minute job. A 200-foot cell tower with badging requirements is a half-day. Quote by asset type, not by hour.
2. Sensor required
Visual, thermal (radiometric), zoom, and LiDAR all sit at different price points. Match the sensor to what the report has to prove.
3. Reporting depth
A photo dump is one product. A tagged anomaly report with severity ratings, GPS coordinates, and recommendations is another. Price the report explicitly.
4. Site access & safety
Badging, escorts, lockout/tagout, hot-work permits, and PPE all eat hours. Bill the planning time, not just the flight time.
5. Airspace
Class B/C/D, towers near airports, and BVLOS waivers add planning and authorization time. Surcharge them.
6. Recurring vs one-off
Quarterly tower inspections at a fixed price beat one-off jobs on margin and predictability. Offer a retainer rate for repeat clients.

Calculate My Price & ProfitFrequently asked questions
- How much do drone inspections cost?
- Typical 2026 ranges: $300–$800 for a residential roof, $500–$1,500 per cell tower, $1,500–$5,000 per solar farm visit (size-dependent), and $1,500+ per day for industrial / infrastructure inspections. Thermal, reporting, and access surcharges add to the base.
- Do I charge more for thermal inspections?
- Yes. A radiometric thermal payload (M3T, M30T, XT2) and the analysis time it requires are billed at a meaningful premium over visual-only inspections — typically 30–60% more.
- Is reporting included or billed separately?
- Always price the report. A 30-page solar anomaly report or a tower cert package can take longer than the flight. List 'inspection report' as its own line item.
- Do I need to charge extra for restricted-access sites?
- Yes — secure facilities, badging, escort requirements, and Class B/C airspace all add planning and coordination time. Surcharge them on the quote and write the access requirements into the contract.
